Covering crazy colours

I'm not sure what the previous owners were thinking when they painted the house. The bedrooms are painted black, the lounge room is a deep red and the kitchen has a funny feature wall in a texture orange paint. Our tastes are a little more conservative than their taste it seems, so we are looking to try to cover up some of these painted surfaces with a more standard paint. It's quite hard to cover up these colours, and we've had varying success. This blog shows our efforts to colour up the crazy colours and has some tips for other people looking to cover unusual colours in their home.
